Creative and Innovative

Alhamdulillah, we had already done our final presentation on communication skills module yesterday. Today is the first day of the new module, Entrepreneurship. First of all, we were asked by our trainer to simply introduce ourselves to him. That is a really good approach as he will be able to know why we are here, in the best programme?? For sure I said that because I want to learn more about soft skills and entrepreneurship because being an entrepreneur in the area of biotechnology is the vision of my career life.


Everyone got so excited when it comes to innovation and creative part. Today we were asked to think about creating something creative and innovative. All of the groups have presented so many creative new things and it would be very great if we have the opportunity to make our idea in real someday. Hopefully!! Oh, it’s already late of evening, I need to go to the LRT with my friends. See you next time, bye!!

Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Special Training (BEST) Programme

It has been a month since I joined BEST programme. Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Special Training Programme (BEST) is organized by Biotech Corporation. BeST is a 6-month intensive and structured retooling programme for graduates from all disciplines, wishing to enter the biotechnology industry and other related industries in general. There is 3 months in class activities and 3 months internship programme.


For 3 months in class activities, we will learn about communication skills, technical skills and entrepreneurship. For this first month, we were taught about the soft skills and communication skills that we have to have in order for us to get the job that we want. We’ve been specially trained for a month by the BEST trainee.

We were divided into 9 groups named E. COOL, PRODIGY, MC BIO, BIOSELF, SUPER SYNERGY, XX POWER, PECAH MENTAL, CHIMERA and FUTURA. Many of us came from pure biology, biotechnology, biomedical and engineering field.

We have learned on how to be a good speaker in public speaking session. The mock interview session also has given us a lot of skills in answering the interview questions. Even though it was a very short interview, but we learned a lot of things from the trainer. Negotiation and leadership skills were very important aspects when we are going to enter a company. Today we learned on how to do the negotiation skills by Mr Hisyam Karim. He is a very great and cool public speaker.

Next week, on Tuesday, we will have our final presentation. My group, E. cOOL, are going to present about our project which is about a phyto-mix yogurt which can help to lower the sugar level for patients who suffered from diabetic problems. All The Best to all of the groups!!! =)

How to reach an audience through blogging

Blog is a device or a system used usually by people to express their feelings regarding the event and phenomenon happens in their surroundings. A creative people can transform a simple blog into more interesting blog. No matter how good a blog is, it really should have an audience. In order to reach an audience, the blogger has to be creative in creating the blog. There are a lot of widgets can be used to make the blog into an interesting one.

The first thing the blogger need to do is set up a goal for the blog, what the blog is all about and why do they write the blog. Yes, it is very important for someone to have a goal and know what he/she is doing. A good layout for his/her blog is very important because that is the first thing which will determine either the readers will start to read the content inside or not. Well, I know all of the readers will not take a look at the blog which is too shiny and hard to read.

A blog with attracted contents may also increase the audience attraction. The bloggers should try to find out and create the best way to elaborate the blog’s content. The readers will get attracted to the post with an interesting elaboration rather than the uninteresting one.
The third way is by being a follower or leaving your comment to another blog. This is one of the very first steps to reach an audience because the percentage of that blogger will open your page is very high as they want to know who is following them. So, get remember to be a follower of the blog that you find interesting. You should also respond to the comment left by your followers.

Another popular social network services like facebook, myspace and twitter also can be used as a tool to reach the audience as those social networks are very popular and currently used all over the world. The blogger can share their blog’s link on their facebook or myspace homepage. This is the easiest way to attract people to read your blog.

Last but not least is do not be afraid of receiving criticism. You should realize that everyone has their own way to give their criticsm.

Ibnu Haitham:Saintis Pertama

para pembaca yang dirahmati Allah sekalian, saya percaya ramai di antara kalian yang mengenali nama-nama saintis islam yang muncul di zaman kegemilangan islam, Abbasiyyah. Dalam post ini saya akan menceritakan sedikit sebanyak mengenai seorang ilmuwan islam yang banyak memberi sumbangan dalam teknologi optik iaitu Ibnu Haitham.

Nama sebenar beliau ialah Hassan ibn Hassan Ibn al-Haitham. Barat mengenalinya sebagai Alhazen, Avennathan, dan Avenetan. Dilahirkan pada 354 Hijrah (965 Masihi), anak kelahiran Basrah ini dikenali sebagai saintis pertama di dunia. Beliau dibesarkan di Basrah dan Baghdad, di antara kota-kota yang terkenal pada zaman pemerintahan Kerajaan Bani Abbasiyyah. Beliau meninggal dunia di Kaherah pada usia 74 tahun (430 Hijrah/1039 Masihi).

Ibnu Haitham mengatakan benda yang dilihat memantulkan cahaya ke mata manusia. Teori ini sekaligus telah menolak teori Ptolemy dan Euclid yang mengatakan manusia melihat benda melalui pancaran cahaya yang keluar melalui matanya. Dalam penyelidikannya, beliau mengkaji gerakan cahaya, ciri bayang dan imej dan banyak lagi fenomena optik. kehebatan Ibnu Haitham dalam dunia optik menyebabkan beliau mendapat jolokan sebagai bapa optik moden.

Ibnu Haitham tidak pernah jemu menimba ilmu berkaitan matematik, fizik, astronomi, falsafah dan mantik. Beliau menulis tidak kurang daripada 200 buah buku dan karyanya adalah berkaitan ilmu fizik dan matematik. Kitab al-Manazir (Book of Optics) ialah salah satu daripada karya-karya beliau. Beliau mempelajari ilmu optik di Andalusia (Sepanyol). Beliau turut menjadi penterjemah buku matematik dan falak ke bahasa arab terutama daripada bahasa latin.

Demikianlah secuit kisah mengenai Ibnu Haitham, salah seorang saintis islam terhebat. Sekiranya barat berlaku jujur, sudah pasti beliau disenaraikan sebagai The Greatest Scientist.
